 (See what we did there.)  As an all-volunteer organization, we appreciate all of the heart and hard work our team puts into this organization.   It is their strong belief that we can truly make a difference on a grand scale with LGBTA Women in our community. 

Arlene Ligori
Arlene Ligori
Director of Events
Arlene Ligori is a professional graphic designer, PowerPoint presentation specialist and fine artist. She was affiliated with the American Cancer Society of St. Louis. For several years, she volunteered her time for the special events committee. She offered graphic design services, in addition to attending regular meetings, event promotion and special events. She has also volunteered her time, skills and fine art for Stray Rescue of St. Louis. She has worked in the computer design industry for over 20 years and worked for such corporations like Raymond James, Tech Data, IKON and AT&T. Her artwork can be found at https://www.aligori.com Arlene is currently connected with Out with The Grls, a meetup group based in Sarasota. As an admin for that lesbian group, she has organized and hosted several successful events over the past few years.

Joan Finch, SPHR, is the Controller for Key Packaging, a small manufacturing company located in Manatee County, and is responsible for Accounting, HR, and IT. She began her career in the Grocery business in Maine and created a Bed and Breakfast from scratch with her wife Julie. With over 25 years of experience in the for profit worlds of Retail, Property Management, and Manufacturing, she is looking forward to adding to her non - profit experience with SWIM.

Vice President
Dr. Bonita Best holds Doctor of Business Administration, Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in Technology Management and Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Sciences. She’s owned several for-profit organizations and founded a nonprofit organization that focused on training underserved individuals and aiding in job placements in the DC-Metro Area. She’s also served as an IT Director of a Miami-Based nonprofit organization that focused on provided services and support to the HIV-AIDS community in Metro-Dade, Broward and Monroe Counties.
Dara Eckart

Dara Eckart is the Executive Director of Friends of Strays, a non-profit, no-kill shelter located in St. Petersburg. After spending 15 years at Indiana University in fundraising and administration, she moved to Florida in 2015 to pursue Dara’s goal of leading a non-profit organization. In her first year at Friends of Strays, she led the organization through previously unseen growth including doubling the number of adoptions and increasing adoptions income by more than 60%. Dara is working with the Friends of Strays Board on a strategic plan that includes entering a capital campaign to purchase or build a new facility for continued expansion of the shelter that includes a low-cost public spay/neuter/wellness clinic. Dara has dedicated her efforts to improving the reputation of the organization in the community and making a difference in the lives of homeless and abandoned pets through strategic restructuring of organizational policies, public outreach, fundraising events, and building relationships with businesses, donors, and influential members of the community.
Dr. Karen Reese

Director of Events
Professional background: Dr. Reese is a chiropractor, since 2000. Previously, she was a photographer (shh, that’s a secret). Volunteer history: Past board member and the first female board president of the Tampa Bay Business Guild (currently the Tampa Bay Diversity Chamber of Commerce), delivered food for people suffering with HIV/AIDS, aided people with spinal cord injuries, and a research team studying multiple sclerosis. She was also a volunteer at the Paralympic and Olympic games held in Georgia.
Carla Douglass
Carla Douglass
Founder/Acting President
 Carla served in the military for 23 years and currently works in the federal government as Program Manager and served as an Executive Board member for Veterans First LTD that assisted homeless women veterans.
